Uncharted waters

Snow snow everywhere... Snow snow on the ground... Snow snow all around!

With the inches of powdery white covering the ground the kiddos and I were forced to spend Saturday indoors. Mommy had no trouble coming up with fun activities to keep everyone entertained.

***Proud Mommy Moment Alert!***

With Landon in his high chair and Shawn in his booster seat I bravely set out to cook dinner. Bratwurst, Scalloped Potatoes, and Corn here we come. A few toys lay scatted for Landon and a Doodle pro for Shawn as I headed into uncharted waters. These two boys sat together and played without so much as a peep while I prepared dinner for Shawn and I (baby food for the lil guy.) Shawn fed himself without incident. Landon ate a whole bowl of sweet potatoes and rice cereal. Then the boys jumped ship into the living room and Mommy sat at the dinner table with a magazine in hand to enjoy a peaceful meal. These two little darlings even gave me enough time to clean up the kitchen and get things ready for bedtime! How lucky can a Mom get?!

My 1st sippy cup! And I did so good with it (Mommy was all worried for nothing since I didn't take to solid foods and a spoon so well.)

So proud that I'm graduating to a sippy (but I still love my bottles too!)

Shawn's pet dolphin from GiGi & Poppy

They had a blast laughing at each other in the mirror. This is seriously the best baby toy ever. It comes highly recommended by the boys ;)

Entertaining each other so nicely.

Sorry MeMe, still taking unrecognizable snapshots of my pants. I'll get the hang of it soon & Mommy will mail you all my b-e-a-u-tiful pics ;)

Can you hear my tunes GiGi and Poppy? Sending some beach band fun to S.C. (He LOVES it!)

Since I'm always laughing about Landon's acrobatics, here is a picture of twinkle toes up on his tip toes. He's hilarious!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE him! Look at that munchkin face! See why I can't put him down during the day?
This kiddo is a Memory master! Every night we have game time and we play a few rounds of Memory and then Candy Land Castle afterwards. I think he cheats at Candy Land since he always wins ;)

Jungle Gym

Landon and I made an escape from the confines of our home today. It was about time for some Mommy and Me activities! We left Daddy and Shawn to their own devices (what trouble could those two possibly get into, right?)

The first stop on our adventure was to meet some of Mommy's past co-workers. If you can only guess the 1st thing everyone commented on... You guessed it... the luscious locks!

Then the munchkin and I headed to Aunt Lizzy's house for a play date with his best girl, Delilah. If there is anything out there any cuter than two babies playing (and by two babies, I mean our two babies, thank you)... please, by all means, tell me what that is.

Jungle Babes

Mmm, her face looks awfully tasty!

"Where's my Mommy to save me from bubble butt!"

Uncle John & Me (the two computer geeks)

All dressed up... plenty of places to go.

Katweeeeenaa!

The imagination of a 2 1/2 year old... What a vast and ever expanding universe! Today Shawn has stumbled upon a first in his young toddlerhood. He is now the proud friend of "Katrina" (or Katweena) as he calls her. Now, there is something about this Katrina girl that I'm not quite sure of. Don't get me wrong, she seems to play nice, she's entertaining, and she has yet to make a mess for me. You see, Katrina does not want to meet Shawn's Mommy. Personally, I find this a little odd of a friend who Shawn spent so much of his day with.

When I asked Shawn to show me Katrina, he made excuses for the girl. She was in the closet, at the window, in a tree, downstairs, and at one point that adventurous girl was on the moon!

Today was a first in Shawn's toddlerhood. Shawn has an imaginary friend.

Her name... Katrina.

My little jungle kings.

Tube time before bed.

Good night kisses

"Mommy, this is my drawing"

I translated Shawn's artwork for you. He is coming along so well with some of his shapes! I asked him to draw me a picture of Katrina, and as you can see, she is quite interesting. Shawn explained to me that Katrina has a pet butterfly. And she also has a heart (which is good to hear.)

Things that go "bump" in the night

Silence. Roughly thirty-five minutes after the last little Rawlings was tucked safe and warm in his bed I decided to unleashed Paranoid Freak-a-zoid Mom and go check on the kiddos for the 1st of many times for the night. Quietly, I tip toed up the stairs, held my breath, and gently stepped over the baby gate at the doorway of Shawn's room. Faint breathing sounds filled the air. I crept over to his bedside and realized he had the covers drawn up over his face. Ever so softly I moved them down as to not awaken my precious little dreamer. The nightlight in the hallway allowed for just enough visibility that I could make out the shape of Shawn's face. Getting ready to exit the room, I spun around on one heel maneuvering the floor board just enough to release a squeak. Perfect. My existence was not going to go unnoticed. But still, silence. I held my breath yet again and just before I could move my eyes from the spot where my sleepy tot lay...

"COME DOWN!" His voice echoed through the room and made my heart skip a few beats. My little prince was wide awake and apparently mocking my disastrous attempts at being discrete.

"No hunny, its time to sleep." Not being as careful, I stepped into Landon's room, checked on my softly snoring precious bundle, and fled for the downstairs.

Silence... until next time.

Mimicking Mommy on her laptop.

This Little Piggy

The kiddos and I had yet another fun filled afternoon at Nan & Peeps. The weather was not quite cold enough to keep Shawn and I indoors so we ventured out for some make-shift ice skating in the back yard and corn field.

It wouldn't be a Rawlings Family Blog without a gazillion pics of our adventure at the boys great grandparents.

If you know Landon then you know this shirt is HIM to a capital T!

"Mmm, tastes just like chicken!"

My precious little boy :) Him and that thumb... its one of the cutest things I've ever seen.

How did we get so blessed?

"Can never have just one!"

Shawn and his attempt at sharing.

Shawn trying to figure out what all the fuss is about piggy toes.
Two boys... too much fun!

Peeps getting a good laugh over Shawn and his "sharing abilities" (or lack their of.)

"If you wont share your toys, then I'll just nibble on YOUR feet big brother!"
Shawn's outdoor adventure. This toboggan was mine when I was about 12 years old. Peeps dug it out for him last week and I couldn't believe he still had it. There was only a little patch of icy snow left, but it was good enough for a few good slides down the yard.

Ice skating. Shawn was a hoot to watch slip and slide all over. Every time he fell down he laughed so hard and had trouble picking himself up over it ;)

He is just amazing. Everyday there is something new. He shows me how to look at the world with wonder again.

Beautiful day!

Doin' the Inchworm

A few new pics of the boys...

Shawn's new obsession... his art desk from MeMe & Pappy!

Sporting a new hat from GiGi & Poppy

Landon is getting so mobile! He's trying to sit up on his own already and is pretty much crawling (like an inch worm actually.)

The boys absolutely love their Aunt Stef... Landon going in for a kiss.

Mommy can't get enough of the cute faces this lil one makes!
