Cat, Hat, Rat... and Uncle!

The past few days have boasted for some pretty exciting events in the Rawlings household. The one that I am most "Mommy Proud" of is Shawn's rapid succession into spelling! It hasn't taken him long since learning what each letter sounds like to put two and two together to spell things out. Among the list of words that he is regularly spelling are: cat, hat, rat, pig, dog, mom, dad, bob, jar, jam... and last night he spelled "eat!" This (just) three year old may be a rambunctious handful that keeps us on our toes 24/7... but he keeps amazing us everyday! We are so blessed and so proud of him for his eagerness to learn. After he spells out a few words and we thank him for the pleasure of hearing him "sound out" he closes his eyes, takes a small bow, and says "fank you, fank you so much" (so quietly, yet with a HUGE smile on his face.) Shawn, you are such a sweet and dear boy. Mommy& Daddy love you so very much!

Next on this list is Landon and his persistence with letting us know if he wants something or not. Shawn was never big on shaking his head "yes or no"... when he learned the word "no" he would use it. Landon has figured that a head nod or shake gets the message through just fine. If he doesn't want something a vigorous back and forth motion "NO" gets the point across quite well LOL. He has such a personality! Even if it takes him a while to warm up to others... and if Mommy is within ear shot you can sometimes forget him willingly going to you... he is quick to make others smile and laugh with some of his precious and goofy ways. Monkey, your snuggles brighten my day (my day must be bright as the sun since you are constantly on me snuggling!)

Another tid bit of wonderful news... Jon has recently had the opportunity to speak with a "long lost" Uncle of his that he never had the chance to meet. This connection came about by a chance "accident" (so to speak) and has led to something wonderful. Jon and I both feel that having this new family in our lives to talk with and learn about one another is a blessing. Jon is learning things that he always wondered and putting puzzle pieces together that have long since been scattered. I am so happy that he is getting answers and has this opportunity to build a bond with his Uncle.

Our amusement park trip... round 2 :)

Bring on the Red, White, & Blue

The 4th of July holiday is creeping up on me faster than I thought! Here just a few weeks ago I assumed that I would have plenty of time to get some holiday shots of the kiddos... well, the other day it hit me that this Red, White, & Blue festivity is just days away! Plus, on 7/4 we'll be in the process of moving!!!! We'll be sure to keep everyone updated on that. Address change cards and email notifications will be sent to our family and friends.

The Babes.

Landon was so excited about this flag that I couldn't get him to hold still!

My sweet niece... and closet dinosaur (this child growls like a man!)

All this time of fighting the idea of a hat... now they are "cool" to The Munchkin.

A VERY fun filled day at Aunt Lizzy & Uncle John's house. We played, we swam, and we cleaned up a massive explosion. Yes, that is why Landon is running around pants less.

The other day we took a trip to the pool with our Wolfgang friends... a few shots from a very warm day! Shawn can't wait to get back in the pool with his bestest bud ;)

Giddy up!

Shawn is one step closer to becoming a full fledged cowboy... he's got the hat...

And now the horse:

Yes, Nanny surprised the boys today with their very own Giddy Up Horsey!
(And the Greatest Spoiling Grandma award goes to.... NANNY!) ;)

Landon's 1st ride... with a little help from Daddy :)

The sweetest little guys... sharing a look at their family album.

Brotherly Love... times 10!

The upper left picture is Shawn's face as the horse came through the door. Priceless!
This kid couldn't stay off of the horse with many names. Toeness, Tony, MeeMy... the list goes on. Nanny could hardly wait to give the horse them.

(1st pic)- Another step closer to walking!

Worth a thousand words?

The Father's Day celebrations continued into Monday as we visited with Peeps to show him just how much he means to our family.

What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies. ~Rudolph Giuliani

This quote is held especially true in regards to my grandparents... they live their lives for their grandchildren... It is my hope that the boys will always remember the valuable lessons that they learn from their Nan & Peeps. All four are blessed... the boys for having such remarkable great-grandparents... and Nan & Peeps for having such amazing grandsons keeping them young.

My two favorites... my sons & my grandparents.

Enjoying a property tour with Peeps.

Clang Bang on the wind chimes.

The Snuggliest...

And Coziest place to be.

Roar goes the monster!

Bonding time.

Lazy summer days... not so lazy with Shawn around ;)

Peeps turn for a wagon ride.

Shawn is definitely a Peep's boy!

And this one has a thing for Nanny ;)

A picture truly is worth a 1,000 words.

Blue Eyed Babe.

Shawn insisted on getting up on the porch to have a very important conversation with his Uncle Mike!
Then later that day we met Pops and the family for a yummy dinner at TGIFridays! The boys loved their late bedtime for the day and spending time with their family!

Landon thieving the bread sticks... Shawn snuggling Diana, and Shawn giving Miranda kisses.

Aunt Jodi, MomMom, and PopPop

Today we headed over to Lindsey's for a play date (oh and yea, a Mommy date too.) The boys... well, they were boys. Wrestling, screaming, fighting, sharing, hugs, kisses, tantrums... you name it, we experienced it. Oh but these two are very luck 3 year olds to have a best buddy from infanthood to grow up and share all these memories with. Thanks for having us over all day... and for the amazing mexican dinner... we had too much fun!

The Besties.

Boys, boys, boys.

Lindsey assisting in the walking process... and baby Connor all smiles.

Sharing, fighting, and wrestling... here's the proof.

Oh Auntie Lynda & Uncle Cody... I wore this special just for you!

After all that play...

A nap was just what the "Mommy's" ordered.
