Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass... it's about learning how to dance in the rain. -Unknown
This quote was recently posted on a Facebook friend's wall. Something about it's relevance to our lives struck me instantly. Jon and I have always been on the same page when it comes to our children. We know what values, standards, and ways that we wish to bring our children up in. Our ways may not always be the popular ways with those in our lives. We may not raise our children the way we were raised, or the way our parents were raised... but we raise our children with what we feel is best for them and their future.
Where is this coming from? Last night I had what I could call "The conversation of the year" with a friend (and old boss) from when we lived in Idaho. We have kept in touch over the past 5+ years and watched one another become parents, diapers, sickness, terrible twos... even if we go months without a phone call, we always manage to keep in touch and catch up on our lives. Last night, by chance, we ended up conversing about our parenting style (which by the way are extremely similar)... and our plans for the future. After this amazing conversation I have a renewed faith in the path we are on. We may not always do what we were taught or the "popular" thing... but I trust that we are doing what is right for us.

Sleepyhead on the rocking chair.
This kid eats bread like its going out of style. He would eat it with every meal, for every meal, everyday if he was allowed!
Mmmmm messes! He is such a bright light and amazing soul. He's been told so many times that there is something special about him... and truly, there is.

aww what great pictures. We miss you all so much. I am working on getting us out there soon. We cant stand not seeing you all. We were so glad to have seen and talked to Shawn on the web cam. That was a lot of fun and we will have to do that again. So when you having the third kid? LOL Love ya
Can't believe our little boys are growing so fast... Shawns pottie training and Landons walking...sigh.
I love my boys so much, through everything that goes on in our lives, i find myself looking to my boys and finding the reason to do better, take the high road, turn the other cheek...They make me want to become better than what I was raised with. In this day and age, it seems like its everyone for themselves. I want to teach my boys selflessness and respect. Honor is a big thing for me, I want my boys to learn that by example... Excellent blog My love...
Love A+F
jon
That is just so wonderful that Shawn went without a diaper on your outing!! Yay Shawn!
Landon is just so friggin adorable I can't stand it! I love that outfit he has on in those pics with the turtle :-)
You & Jon are wonderful parents- don't ever doubt yourselves. Just because you don't conform to others or the way they think you should parent doesn't mean you're not doing a fantastic job. I knew from the beginning (when you had Shawn... and even before) that you would be a wonderful mother. You have yet to prove me wrong & I don't expect you ever will.
congrats shawn on your first outing :) <3 and landon's hair's getting sooo long. miss you guys! love you..
