Ah, Memorial Day! A day for picnics, BBQ's, family, & friends. This year our family had the opportunity to spend the day with my Great Aunt Westy at her son Todd's house. Many of Shawn & Landon's relation were there to kick back, relax, and enjoy the warm rays of sun.
Shawn explaining the colors of fish to his cousin, Christopher.
Counting the number of fish that he wants (which was all 3 that were meant for him and his twin cousins.)

These three have such a special bond! Westy is one amazing grandmother... She reminds me of how Nan is with Shawn & Landon.
Landon & Nanny laughing at a very comical Shawn. Peeps decided to take him for a walk and Jon warned him to keep a close eye on our wandering toddler. A few minutes later Peeps comes back grumbling something... I look down and Shawn is covered in mud. Yea, he jumped in a mud puddle. Peeps was rather miffed that Shawn didn't listen to him so I told him that he can blame his daughter (Shawn's MeMe) for starting that puddle jumping habit. A rather annoyed Peeps said "Yea, that was smart." Boys will be boys ;)
Nanny was the only other person who was allowed to hold my mama's boy (per Landon's request.) If anyone else went for him, the lip and tears came out, and back to Mom he went.)
Spending Memorial Day with family and friends... I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. The boys enjoyed themselves immensely. One of the nice things about living in small town near your friends and family... creating memories like this nearly everyday.

I love how affectionate Jon is with our sons. He isn't afraid to be a softy and snuggle, cuddle, and smooch the boys (oh, and just about every time he picks them up.) Shawn & Landon are two very lucky little boys to have such a dedicated and loving father... and I am one lucky wife and mother to have him to share in this parenting journey.
After the BBQ at Todd's we met Liz and John at a local pool only to find it closed. Then after a small trip across state lines (well not really, but it felt like it) to find a pool, they were all closed! So, we headed back to their house and Liz & I came up with the bright idea to go get one at Walmart. So we left the three kiddos with their Daddy's... trekked to Wally World... a pool, pump, and swim diapers later... we were set. John filled the pool with a small amount of water (enough for us to cool off and Shawn to splash in.) Believe it or not, we had a blast in this little backyard pool!!!
Now this munchkin doesn't share in the aquatic enthusiasm... he hasn't quite yet discovered those fins.
